Conveniently located within 15 minutes of Tampa International Airport, Emerald Greens Golf & Country Club features 27 holes of freshly redesigned Dan Maples championship golf. This is the only Dan Maples design in Florida, and this amazing track is characteristic of the great work Dan is famous for in Pinehurst. This upscale private course is only available for play by guests of its brand new vacation villas (opening in the fall 2007) and its members. The scenic layout is comprised of three distinct nines, the Cypress, Meadows, and Pine. Currently, the Cypress and Meadow nines are open for play while the Pine is undergoing its renovation. Emerald Greens offers a truly delightful golfing experience to players of all skill levels, and combined with its air-conditioned golf carts and courteous staff, it is sure to be the highlight of your golf vacation.

Thirty minutes north of Tampa in New Port Richey you'll find the fabulous 18-hole layout at Fox Hollow. The upscale, semi-private facility features a $2 million clubhouse with panoramic views of "The Hollow" (holes #1, #10, and #18). Rated by the Tampa Tribune as one of the area's "Top Three" golf courses, Fox Hollow has hosted the USGA Amateur Publinks Qualifier, PGA Senior Tour's GTE Suncoast Classic Qualifier, and MasterCard Grand Masters Pro-Am. The course is also one of only a handful of courses in Florida featuring Paspalum putting surfaces. If you have never played Paspalum greens you're in for a real treat!

The Golf Club at Cypress Creek offers dramatic terrain with tight fairways and heavy bunkering. Sculpted around 600 acres of natural woodlands, the popular course provides beautiful views of these woods and the wildlife within. Designers Steve Smyers and Dean Refram created a terrific and fun test with elevated greens and water on 13 holes. The facility also features a nicely maintained 18-hole executive course and a clubhouse with full-service bar and restaurant. Located in Ruskin, it's an easy 35-minute drive southeast of Tampa.

Course designer Scott Pate, of Seaside Golf Development, has done wonderful work on the new course at Hernando Oaks. The layout wanders through beautiful Florida countryside and was designed with a sense of fairness in mind. The fairways tend to be wide and forgiving, but there's just the right amount of water to keep your attention. Your score will be determined mostly on how well you handle the elevated and undulating greens. You'll find Hernando Oaks about 45 minutes north of Tampa in the town of Brooksville.

The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook is considered one of the best resort courses in the country (as rated by Golf Digest) and is host to The Transitions Championship, a PGA Tour event. The par-71 course plays over 7,350 yards from the back tournament tees and is a very stern test of golf with terrific greens. The course is best characterized by its tree-lined fairways and rolling natural setting. It's actually more reminiscent of a Carolina layout than its location on Florida's West Coast. This beautiful 18-hole layout has tight fairways and well-bunkered greens, placing a costly premium on accuracy from tee to green. Wildlife abounds here, as it does on all of Innisbrook's courses, and includes several families of Red-Tail Hawks on the back nine, many Ospreys on the lakes around holes 3 through 7, and several alligators!

Highlands South features many a great selection of holes. Among its many challenges is the 210-yard, par-3 9th hole, featuring a very difficult-to-hit island green. The 6,620-yard course offers abundant water and other hazards of differing forms including well-bunkered greens and waste areas reminiscent of Pinehurst.

One of Innisbrook's four championship courses, the Island Course, was the first to open for play in December of 1970, and still offers Innisbrook's most diverse golfing challenge. Just slightly shorter in length than the famed Copperhead, the Island unfolds into 18 truly unique holes. The varying terrain, coupled with a variety of tee placements, can challenge both the professional player as well as the weekend golfer. The Island's first six holes are dominated by lateral water hazards and fairly level terrain which require pin point accuracy on both tee shots and approaches. The middle six holes feature rolling hills dominated by cypress and pine trees. The final six boast a mixture of holes designed to reward the bold yet penalize the errant golf shot. Finally, the layout winds down to an 18th hole that will test the nerves of even the most steady. What a golf course!

The new North course at Lake Jovita is a tremendous compliment to the original South course. This great new track captures the essence of the fabulous South course in every aspect, and even boasts greater elevation changes, divergent of traditional Florida courses. In fact, on a clear day players can see for nearly five miles to the northeast from the second tee! The new North course is perhaps more fashionable, plays a little longer, and is as popular with club members as the South course. For anyone visiting the greater Tampa Bay area there are now two "must plays" in one convenient location!
Lake Jovita offers several stay-and-play packages, as well as daily tee times to the public. Visitors can stay at privately owned three-bedroom, two-bath club villas overlooking the 18th green.

Thirty minutes northwest of Tampa in Palm Harbor, you'll find one of the area's undiscovered gems. Bordered by stands of trees, this tight layout has no parallel fairways, making it an unusual design. With water on 16 holes, shotmaking and correct club selection are essential. Lansbrook has recently replaced the greens with smooth running Tifdwarf Bermuda and the course is maintained in absolutely perfect condition. For Masters' fans, hole #11 is reminiscent of #16 at Augusta National.

Harman did a marvelous job with the framing and tee design of Plantation Palms. Great consideration was given to beginners and higher handicap players, while also providing a challenge for the accomplished player. A beautiful clubhouse offers great amenities including a fully stocked golf shop and a bar and grille with "the perfect bill of fare for the golfing public."

The TPC of Tampa Bay is the annual host of the Outback Steakhouse Pro-am, a Champions Tour event. Designed by architect Bobby Weed and PGA Tour Design Services, this track is "stadium golf" at its best with man-made mounds bordering most fairways and greens. The course is perfectly maintained from tee to green and features dramatically undulating greens and water on 14 holes. The TPC facility also features a magnificent 12,000-sq-ft clubhouse overlooking the exhilarating finishing hole.
