About World Woods Golf Club - Pine Barrens (Brooksville, FL)
Intimidating. Enjoyable. These two words don't often go hand in hand, but they accurately describe the Pine Barrens course at World Woods. Ranked #26 on Golfweek's list of "America's Best Modern Courses for 2006," this Tom Fazio design has been receiving accolades since it opened in 1991. It's perennially ranked among the nation's top courses by Golf Digest and has been called "Florida's Pine Valley." The course features large fairways framed by expansive waste bunkers and towering pines (hence the comparisons to Pine Valley).

Worth the drive from Orlando -- Clubhouse facilities were the minimum -- only one shower in the bathroom. But we liked the course -- the fastest greens we've ever played on a golf vacation...

AT FIRST THE STAFF SEEMED DETACHED AND BOTHERED A BIT, BUT THINGS GOT STRAIGHTENED OUT. THEY HAVE A HIGH VOLUME AND SEEMED TO BE A BIT REGIMENTED, BUT WE ENJOYED EVERYTHING AND WOULD PLAY AGAIN.

This is a real gem that not many know about. I actually hope it remains that way. This is a great great course (Pine Barrens) and the second course (Rolling Oaks) is better than most. The practice facilities are second to none. We look forward to playing this course when ever possible and always enjoy it. Pine Barrens may be the best course in Florida!

What a great experience. This is always our longetst day of our trip trying to play 36 holes. The staff does a great job getting us turned. The snack bar is a little slow, but if you tell them your "grabbing and going" they try to turn your order faster. Course is a great track and this year was the best of the last two we have played it.

very challenging and unique fazio-designed course. not recommended for high handicap golfers, unless they really like adventure. No sand traps, but miles and miles of waste area. Some holes have 250 linear yards of it lining one side. Lots of elevation changes and contour shifts on every hole, especially the greens.
